SHR, or Super Hair Removal, is a laser technique for permanently removing hair. This system blends the latest technology with the advantages of pulsating light methodology. It can effectively treat hairs that were previously challenging or nearly impossible to remove. The “In Motion” innovation signifies a significant advancement in permanent hair removal using light-based technology. Compared to conventional systems, the treatment is more comfortable and offers better protection for your skin.

What sets laser and IPL technology apart?

Conventional laser and IPL methods typically use short pulses lasting around 2-300 milliseconds, delivering significant energy (12-120 Joules per square centimeter). Melanin channels this energy to the hair root, generating temperatures of 65-72°C. However, this energy absorption isn’t exclusive to melanin; the skin and red blood cells also absorb similar levels, potentially causing swelling lasting days or severe burns.

In contrast, SHR technology partially utilises the melanin pathway (50%), reaching down to the follicles responsible for hair growth. Studies indicate that a slower, longer heating process is more effective for permanent hair removal compared to high-energy, short bursts. With SHR, the device glides over the skin 6-10 times, employing low energy but rapid repetition (up to 10Hz, or 10 times per second). This gradual, extended heating (90 seconds) at a comfortable 45°C temperature affects hair melanin and stem cell tissue. SHR proves effective even for blonde or white hair, where hair pigment is secondary.

What are the benefits?
Repeated low-energy impulses in the same area achieve optimal intensity, ensuring a more comfortable treatment that better safeguards the skin than traditional methods.

How do different hair and skin colours respond?

Fair skin with dark hair responds best to these treatments. Besides targeting melanin, SHR technology influences the chromophore, a follicle protein, allowing effective treatment for dark skin and the removal of colourless, fine hairs.

Potential Risks

Certain body areas exhibit higher sensitivity, leading to potential redness as a side effect. This redness typically fades within hours but might persist for a few days akin to a sunburn's intensity. Unlike traditional approaches, experiencing light crusting (lasting 2-3 weeks) or alterations in skin pigmentation (vanishing within 4-6 months) is exceedingly rare.
